Underwater Video of Musky Spawning

by Gaogao

Here’s a glimpse at a male musky courting a female musky. Spawning behavior begins when water temperatures reach the upper 40-degree mark and continues through the upper 60’s. One or several males will court a single female until she releases eggs. Unlike fish that make nests, musky spawn over a bed of weeds (usually charra), and fertilized eggs sink to the bottom where they will eventually hatch.
