4-Pound Crappie Caught in Missouri

by Gaogao

Tim Shaffer came close to catching a record fish last week when he hooked a 4.3 pound crappie from Lake Wappapello in Missouri. On a lake that doesn’t have many 2-pound crappie, a 4-pounder is most likely the record for that lake and just missed the state record mark at 5 pounds even that was caught in 2006 from a private pond.

Shaffer was said to have been fishing 1/4 ounce jig with a Midsouth Tube on an 11-foot fly rod with fly reels. He doesn’t use much for electronics and doesn’t have Livescope. H just fishes what looks good.

You can read an interview of his catch on thecrappieblog.com.
