Pennsylvania Angler Catches Record Perch

by Gaogao

A Pennsylvania angler recently caught a legendary white perch, making a new record in the Commonwealth at 2 pounds 1-ounce.

The catch measured a whopping 14.125 inches in length with a girth of 12.25 inches. This perch was reeled in by Christopher Barrett from Berks County on April 14th, 2024.

This is the same river where the previous record was also caught in 2008 and weighing only five ounces lighter. Christopher made the remarkable catch during a morning fishing trip with his father, Craig.

After realizing the fish’s size, they confirmed it against the state record weighing a whopping 2 pounds, 3 ounces.

Following inspection by a conservation officer, the fish was officially certified as the new record holder by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission Division of Fisheries Management.
